Sun God Workshops is the result of many years of experiences facilitating art–making and self-discovery workshops. Sun God Art Workshops are designed to develop the creative self. Many times, the artist in us is neglected through our reluctance to develop artistic abilities, excluding ourselves from the possibilities of developing our natural, life affirming abilities to create and BE. As soon as these abilities are rediscovered, practice and technique will help us in expressing the maximum potential as creative persons. The understanding of self and the usual participation as spectators of art will change dramatically.
Face and Identities
Initially, we will capture your face`s physical traits, the entry way to our identities. This will be accomplished through a meditative and relaxed impression on a plaster mask. Later, through the creation of your face using clay you will participate in a workshop session to explore how the key features in your face help provide information about your identities and how you project them to others. In addition, you we will explore how to create new art work from the final piece created in the workshop using media such as painting, photography, digital painting and mixed media .
Artist's Statement
"My interests in the fine arts began in Cuba when I was a child. Initially, it was my father who influenced me in the development of artistic abilities, as well as in the visualization of reality and its spiritual dimension. Due to the knowledge acquired from him, I learned to make connections between self, material and spiritual realms.
"My commitment to the field of art was the driving force in the study of art history, education, and production using different media and technologies in the visual arts. In time, I discovered a large space with expanded dimensions for the expression of my visual and spiritual languages in an integrated manner - a language that expresses a state of harmony using colors, forms and textures".
